KAMP ACTIVITIES AND CALENDAR
KEY CLUB
WEEKEND OF A LIFETIME
Twice each year, in November and
February, the Foundation presents a special weekend
training session for High School Key Club members in the
Southwest District. The Foundation contracts with
"Leadership Is For Everyone," a professional training
organization, to present a program to teach Key Club
members how to become better leaders in their clubs and
their communities. The purpose of the program is
to invest in tomorrow by building better leaders today.
Key Club members and their advisors are charged a
nominal fee to cover room and board expenses. The
Foundation funds the presenters and all training
materials. About 150 students attend each session,
all of whom come away with glowing remarks about their
experience.
The first session this year is November 7-9, 2008.

KAMP WORK
WEEKENDS
Traditionally, the Foundation
conducts two work weekends at the Kamp; one during the
first weekend in May and the other during the third
weekend in October. All Kiwanians in the District
are invited to participate in these rewarding events.
Projects include washing windows, chopping firewood,
clearing firebreaks around the perimeter of the Kamp,
planting flowers, pulling weeds, clearing hiking trails,
and a variety of other tasks to keep the Kamp safe,
attractive, and in good
working order. During the October session, CKI
leaders conduct their training session for the coming
year and help with the chores.
While this event is formally called a Work
Weekend, it always turns into a Fun Weekend as
well. Members and their families can help maintain
the Kamp while enjoying the fresh air and plenty of good
food. There is no charge for attending. Kamp
K is delighted to cover your room and board expenses in
return for your "sweat-equity."
OTHER KAMP WORK ACTIVITIES
In addition to the traditional work weekends, individual
Kiwanians and Kiwanis Clubs are encouraged to undertake
work projects at the Kamp. Examples of recent
projects by Clubs in the Southwest District that
significantly improved the Kamp infrastructure and
facilities were construction of three horseshoe arenas
and construction of the Kamp Amphitheatre. Other
important work activities, such as tree trimming, wood
chipping, and road maintenance, are ongoing volunteer
work activities performed by individuals and Clubs.
If you have projects you our your club would like to
accomplish, please contact Kamp Manager
Andreina (Andrea) Robison.
