Kamp
Kiwanis is owned and operated by the Southwest District
Kiwanis Foundation. Begun in 1972 with a gift of
land from the Kiwanis Club of Gallup, New Mexico, this
160 acre camp facility has been built and maintained by
Kiwanians from throughout the Southwest District.
In 1978 the Foundation Board modified its initial vision
of developing a youth camp. The result was the
development of a Kamp that could accommodate handicapped
individuals, with emphasis on the Kamp's ability to
serve the needs of the Easter Seals Society. Basic
construction projects at the Kamp- were completed in
1983 and the Kamp has been used annually by Easter Seals
since 1984. Importantly, ever since its beginning,
all members of the Kiwanis families have been encouraged
to make maximum use of Kamp Kiwanis and its facilities.
The camp is an ideal location for a variety of
activities. It is a perfect retreat for church
groups, organizations, and businesses that need a "get
away" atmosphere for planning and programming. It
a great facility for group picnics and outdoor training
exercises. It is also particularly suitable for
Boy and Girl Scout Troops and other youth organizations.
